Omoluabi Progressives Condemn Amotekun Over Akinlalu Shooting, Demand Justice

The Omoluabi Progressives have expressed deep shock and concern over the recent shooting incident involving operatives of the Osun State Amotekun Corps in Akinlalu Village, Ife North Local Government, which resulted in the death of several residents and left many others traumatized.

In a statement released today, the group condemned the “reckless and unprofessional actions” of the security operatives, noting that the incident has left the community in fear and mourning.

Abosede Busayo Oluwaseun, Publicity and Organizing Secretary of Omoluabi Progressives, said, “It is most disheartening that the Amotekun security outfit, which is established to safeguard lives and property, could descend into such indiscriminate violence against the very citizens it is meant to protect. The sanctity of human life must never be treated with levity under any guise of security operations.”

The group called on the Osun State Government, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, to take immediate action against the operatives involved, investigate the incident thoroughly, and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

Wishing to extend condolences to the victims, Oluwaseun added, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones, the injured, and all residents affected by this tragedy. Losing three children from one family by any standard is calamitous. Justice must be served, the wounded properly treated, and families whose property was destroyed adequately compensated.”

The Omoluabi Progressives stressed the need for prompt identification and prosecution of the perpetrators to restore public confidence in the state security apparatus.
