Tinubu Shakes Up Key Sectors, Names New DGs, Tribunal Chair
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has carried out a major shake-up in the leadership of three strategic federal institutions, in what observers describe as another bold step to reposition governance.
In a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen, announced the appointments, which take immediate effect.
Bello Bawa Bwari was appointed Director-General of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA) for an initial four-year tenure, effective September 18, 2025.
Mr. Aminu Junaidu was named Chairman of the Investment and Security Tribunal (IST), with a five-year term beginning the same day.
Similarly, Mr. Olayiwola Nurudeen Awakan emerged as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), effective September 2, 2025, for an initial four-year term.
The statement noted that the President expects the appointees to bring their expertise and vigour to bear in revitalising their agencies for national progress.
According to the OSGF, the move underscores Tinubu’s resolve to strengthen critical sectors, enhance institutional capacity, and fast-track economic growth.
