Tinubu: APC Rescued Nigeria from Ruin
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) rescued Nigeria from imminent collapse, crediting the party’s 10-year stewardship with keeping the nation on course.
The President spoke in Owerri, Imo State, at the public presentation of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s new book, “One Decade of Progressive, Impactful Leadership in Nigeria.”
Addressing dignitaries at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, Tinubu said the APC’s emergence in 2015, beginning with former President Muhammadu Buhari, prevented the country from sinking further.
Earlier, he commissioned landmark projects, including the 120km Owerri–Umuahia Road, the Assumpta twin flyover, and the 10,000-capacity Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Conference Centre.
Tinubu said Nigeria’s economy is regaining strength, pointing to a 4.23 per cent GDP growth in the second quarter, inflation dropping to 20.12 per cent in August—the lowest in three years—and external reserves climbing to $42.03 billion, the highest since 2019.
“Our trade surplus grew by over 44 per cent last quarter, while manufactured exports surged by 173 per cent,” he noted. “The Naira has steadied, investments are returning, and confidence is being restored. Nigeria is changing for the better.”
The President urged Nigerians to be patient with ongoing reforms, assuring that “better days are near.”
In his remarks, Governor Uzodimma described the APC’s decade in power as a story of courage, sacrifice, and renewal, praising Tinubu as the “arrowhead” of the coalition that dislodged the PDP in 2015.
APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and the Obi of Onitsha joined other dignitaries to commend Uzodimma for documenting the party’s journey.
Uzodimma called on Nigerians to rally behind President Tinubu in 2027, insisting that the next decade under the APC will secure greater progress and stability.
