Kwara Residents Told to Stay Vigilant as Security Forces Hunt Kidnappers

The Kwara State Government yesterday urged residents, especially those in Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun local government areas, to exercise extreme caution and limit outdoor movements following intensified security operations against kidnappers in the state’s border towns.

In a press statement made available to journalists in Ilorin on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, said the move was aimed at safeguarding law-abiding citizens as criminals flee their forest hideouts.

“We urge people to be very vigilant and restrict their movements to only very necessary routines. This is to avoid being caught unawares as the kidnappers are fleeing their hideouts. We do not want law-abiding citizens to be affected,” Olukoju said.

She expressed regret over any temporary inconvenience the advisory might cause, while commending security forces for their renewed efforts. “We charge them to continue until these criminals are totally neutralised and flushed out of our forests,” Olukoju added.

Residents have been advised to report suspicious activities immediately to security agencies as the state intensifies efforts to restore peace and security.
