Elon Musk Urges Parents to Cancel Netflix Over Children’s Content

Tech entrepreneur and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, has called on parents to cancel their Netflix subscriptions, citing concerns over what he describes as the streaming platform’s promotion of a “woke transgender agenda” in children’s programming.

Musk made the appeal in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, responding to a viral controversy surrounding Netflix’s employment of Hamish Steele, creator of the animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park.

The debate escalated after Steele commented on the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, referring to him as a “Nazi,” which critics said reflected an inappropriate political stance while promoting pro-transgender messaging to young viewers.

Former U.S. Department of Energy scientist, Matt Van Swol, also announced he had cancelled his Netflix subscription over the matter. Musk responded succinctly to Van Swol, saying, “Same.”

Musk further urged parents to protect their children by cutting ties with the streaming service. “Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids,” he wrote, reiterating his long-standing criticism of what he calls the “woke mind virus.”

The billionaire has frequently expressed concerns over ideological influences on children, referencing personal experiences with his daughter’s gender transition. Clips of Dead End: Paranormal Park circulating online prompted Musk to label Steele a “groomer,” claiming the content carried inappropriate ideological messages for young audiences.

This latest criticism aligns with Musk’s broader campaign against what he sees as “woke culture” in media, academia, and technology. Earlier this year, he announced that his AI company, xAI, is developing “Grokipedia,” a platform he claims will counter perceived “left-leaning” bias on Wikipedia.

Netflix has yet to issue a response regarding the controversy.
