APC Can’t Stop PDP’s Convention, Says Party Spokesman — ‘Too Late to Play Games’

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fired a stern warning at allies of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that attempts to disrupt its upcoming national convention are “too late in the day.”

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, said on Monday in Abuja that the party’s November 15-16 convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, would go on as planned, where new national officers will be elected.

Ologunagba accused unnamed PDP chieftains and external forces of trying to frustrate the exercise, adding that the APC is visibly “jittery” over the party’s preparations.

“That is why you see the APC being very jittery, which is understandable. We have a sixteen-year record of prosperity, unlike APC’s years of scarcity,” he said.

On the 2027 presidential race, Ologunagba confirmed that former President Goodluck Jonathan is among several potential candidates for the PDP ticket, but emphasized that the party has a wide pool of qualified options.

“Former President Jonathan is only one of several excellent options. There are PDP governors and other prominent personalities who may also be considered. We shall cross that bridge when we reach it,” he said.

Ologunagba also dismissed claims validating recent factional congresses in Plateau, Kebbi, and Cross River states, describing them as unauthorized exercises by impostors.

“Emphatically, there was no PDP state congress in Cross River. Those holding themselves out as executives are impostors. This party has a due process, and anyone attempting to bring it into disrepute will be dealt with accordingly,” he warned.

The PDP spokesman’s statement signals that the party is determined to proceed with its convention despite internal disagreements and external pressures.
