Tinubu Govt Secures ₦250bn Kaduna, Kano Light Rail

Tinubu Govt Secures ₦250bn For Kaduna, Kano Light Rail

By News Agency of Nigeria

The Federal Government on Monday announced the securing of ₦250 billion for light rail projects in Kaduna and Kano States.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, disclosed this at a world press conference in Abuja.

He said President Bola Tinubu remains committed to balanced and inclusive development across all regions, contrary to speculations of lopsided project distribution.

According to him, ₦150 billion has been earmarked for the Kano light rail project, while ₦100 billion will go to Kaduna.

“The distribution of capital projects under President Bola Tinubu is equitable. No zone is taking a back seat. The Federal Government is actively supporting subnational infrastructure projects, including these light rail systems,” Idris said.

The minister added that local government areas are being fiscally reintegrated, stressing that the administration is determined to entrench financial autonomy at the grassroots.

He further explained that with increased revenue accruing to states from the Federation Account following subsidy removal, subnational governments are now better positioned to embark on critical projects without incurring heavy debts.
