Osun APC in Disarray Over Alleged Looting, PDP Calls It “Comedy of Errors”
The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the activities of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state as a “pitiable drama of confusion,” following claims by some APC affiliates of illicit access to local government funds.
In a statement made available to journalists on Monday, Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji, Osun PDP Director of Media and Publicity, said the ruling party observed the development with both amusement and concern.
“It is laughable that a group of court-sacked errand boys and girls parading themselves as local government chairmen would jubilate over a phantom victory of illegally ambushing public funds through private accounts, even while their own lawyers in open court denied knowledge of any such payments,” Bamiji said.
He added that the counsel representing the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Central Bank of Nigeria had disowned the alleged transfer of local government funds into private accounts held in the United Bank for Africa (UBA), calling it a “clear picture of confusion and desperation” by the APC and its cohorts.
The PDP director further accused the APC of scheming to regain power through “criminal conspiracies” that undermine the welfare of Osun residents, including traditional rulers, local government workers, and primary health personnel.
He commended Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke for sustaining “people-oriented governance with landmark projects across infrastructure, health, education, and social welfare,” and assured the public that the PDP government would continue to protect the welfare of citizens.
Bamiji concluded: “We thank all individuals, groups, and institutions that have stood firmly with the Governor and our democracy in this face-off with the lazy but lousy APC elements, whose only stock-in-trade remains demonic shortcuts to power and primitive plunder of public resources.”
