Nasarawa Governor Urges National Assembly to Set Up Special Anti-Corruption Court
The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has called on the National Assembly to establish a special court dedicated to expeditiously handling corruption cases in Nigeria.
Governor Sule made the appeal on Friday during the Passing Out Parade of the 10th Detective Superintendent Cadets Course and 7th Detective Inspector Course of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Nigeria Police Mobile Force Training College, Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
He lamented the prolonged nature of corruption trials in the country, saying delays undermine efforts to tackle the menace and tarnish Nigeria’s global image. “Until we address corruption decisively, Nigeria will not be taken seriously on the world stage,” he said.
Sule commended EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, and President Bola Tinubu for their efforts towards a corruption-free nation. He urged the newly graduated officers to dedicate themselves fully to national service, noting that their discipline, resilience, and courage offered hope for the country’s future. “The future of Nigeria is truly bright,” he added.
EFCC Chairman Olukoyede, in his address, reiterated the Commission’s commitment to eradicating corruption and urged the new officers to surpass the achievements of their predecessors, emphasizing the significant investment Nigeria made in their training.
Commandant of the EFCC Academy, Joseph Ogwiji, disclosed that 404 officers, including superintendents and inspector detectives, successfully completed the training.
