Kano tops 2025 NECO SSCE, dismisses rival claims
The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its position as the best-performing state in the 2025 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), dismissing contrary reports as “false and malicious.”
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government faulted claims by some online platforms that another state had emerged first.
He stressed that during the official release of the results, NECO’s Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, declared Kano as the state with the highest number of candidates who passed with five credits, including Mathematics and English Language — the standard benchmark for national ranking.
“The claim that another state topped the table is a gross misrepresentation of facts and a deliberate attempt to manipulate public perception,” the statement said.
According to him, the achievement was made possible through deliberate interventions by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration in the education sector, including improved infrastructure, teacher motivation, and student welfare.
Waiya added: “Kano State remains the most successful state in the 2025 NECO SSCE, and history has already recorded this milestone. No amount of propaganda or politically motivated conspiracy can rewrite the truth.”
The government congratulated Governor Yusuf, teachers, students, and the people of Kano for what it described as a landmark achievement in the state’s educational history.
