APC Accused of Political Propaganda by Osun NLC Chairman

APC Accused of Political Propaganda by Osun NLC Chairman

The Chairman of the Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has fired back at the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the party’s criticisms as politically motivated and unfounded.

In a statement released on Thursday, the labour leader dismissed claims suggesting he lives in hotels and moves with armed guards, arguing that such assertions could only originate from those who have been monitoring his movements. He accused the APC of engaging in “political hounding” rather than genuine scrutiny.

“You could only know my whereabouts and routines if I were being watched and tailed around all the time. I don’t believe people are stalked because they are expected to win a lottery. This is clear political hounding,” he said.

The NLC chairman also refuted insinuations concerning his personal life, describing them as baseless and indicative of the APC’s mindset. He questioned the sudden portrayal of ordinary public spaces, such as hotels and restaurants, as venues of scandal.

“Painting innocuous and infrequent events as monstrosities provides a glimpse into the odious mindset of these rabid political vipers masquerading as humans,” he stated.

Challenging the APC to substantiate its claims, the labour leader urged the party to provide evidence of any personal financial gain he may have received from past administrations or political actors.

Addressing the ongoing industrial dispute involving the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), he defended his position that workers’ safety and property must be guaranteed before resumption of duties. He accused the APC of prioritising political interests over workers’ welfare, noting that calls for early resumption were politically motivated.

Turning to the broader political climate, the NLC chairman argued that the Osun APC had become synonymous with “lies, plots, defamation, and misrepresentation of the truth,” predicting that the party would face rejection at the polls.

“Why not face the reality that Osun workers, pensioners, and the masses have rejected you? The time for storytelling is far gone. The right time when we will engage you for the whole world to see is around the corner,” he said.

While expressing little hope for the APC’s “redemption,” he urged the party to focus less on Governor Ademola Adeleke and himself, and more on its preparations for the 2026 governorship election.

“The good people of Osun will still insist on no more tyranny come 2026,” he concluded.
