Yobe Government Kicks Off 2026 Budget Talks, Emphasizes Fiscal Discipline

Yobe State Government has commenced bilateral discussions for its 2026 budget, with a focus on fiscal discipline, transparency, and timely execution of citizen-centered policies.

The budget deliberations, which began yesterday, were inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, representing Governor Mai Mala Buni. Participants from all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) were urged to prioritize projects that align with the Yobe State 25-Year Development Plan.

Governor Buni, through Wali, stressed the administration’s commitment to accountability, warning that financial indiscipline—including off-budget spending and misclassification of funds—would not be tolerated.

Addressing stakeholders, the Secretary to the State Government declared the 2026 Budget Bilateral Discussions officially open, urging MDAs to collaborate in producing a budget that fosters growth, development, and prosperity across the state.

Earlier, the Yobe State Government engaged citizens and stakeholders across the state’s three senatorial zones to gather input that would guide the 2026 budgetary framework.

The government’s move underscores its dedication to inclusive planning and responsive governance, aimed at improving the welfare of Yobe residents.
