‘Lamido Has No Place in Sokoto Politics’ — APC Chair
Sokoto State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, has dismissed Senator Ibrahim Lamido’s political relevance in the state, insisting that he has “no future in Sokoto politics.”
Achida, who addressed reporters in Sokoto yesterday, declared that Lamido, representing Sokoto East in the Senate, is originally from Zamfara State and therefore cannot continue to ride on Sokoto’s goodwill for political gain.
“Senator Ibrahim Lamido is not from Sokoto State; he is from Zamfara. If he wishes to contest in 2027, let him go to his state. Sokoto is a hospitable place, but outsiders should not abuse our goodwill by trying to reap where they did not sow,” Achida said.
The APC chairman accused Lamido of working against the party from within and undermining Senator Aliyu Wamakko, whom he described as the undisputed leader of the APC in Sokoto.
“Lamido crossed the red line when he insulted Senator Wamakko, the man who made it possible for him to emerge as a senator. That betrayal is unforgivable,” Achida stressed.
He recalled that Lamido’s political decline became obvious during the 2023 elections when he could not even deliver his polling unit, adding that both the party and the people have disowned him.
According to Achida, Lamido’s alleged factional activities in the APC were “media creation,” just as he dismissed the political relevance of former Senator Abubakar Umar Gada, who recently boasted of moving supporters into the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“Gada is politically insignificant. In 2023, he polled just about 3,500 votes in the governorship election—less than what a strong candidate secures in one ward,” he said.
Achida maintained that the APC remains united under Governor Ahmed Aliyu and Senator Wamakko’s leadership, working to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Sokoto.
“Our party is not under any threat. Sokoto APC is intact and firmly on ground,” he declared.
