Fubara Reassures Rivers Residents as Peace Returns to the State
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, shortly after his reinstatement as governor.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, Governor Fubara said the visit was aimed at formally informing the President of his resumption following the lifting of his suspension on September 17.
“Since my suspension was lifted, it was proper to meet Mr. President, to thank him and to seek his guidance where necessary, to avoid any future crisis,” Fubara said.
Describing the meeting as a “father-son discussion,” the governor revealed that President Tinubu offered him counsel on governance and strategies to effectively manage state affairs.
Addressing concerns about the durability of peace in Rivers, Fubara dismissed fears of a relapse into political unrest.
“As far as I am concerned, peace has been restored. My father and his principal are working together. Rivers people should expect stability and progress,” he assured.
Governor Fubara’s visit coincides with renewed efforts by the Federal Government to promote harmony in Rivers State, following months of political tension.
