Gunmen Abduct Governor Sule’s Aide, Deedat, in Lafia
Gunmen on Saturday night abducted the Senior Special Assistant on Humanitarian Services to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, Muhammed Egye Osolafia, popularly called Deedat.
Osolafia was seized at his residence in Tudun Amba, a suburb of Lafia, the state capital.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants stormed the area and shot sporadically into the air to scare residents before whisking him away.
Governor Sule’s Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba, confirmed the abduction yesterday. He described the incident as “sad and unfortunate,” adding that he got the news from a colleague.
Saturday’s attack is the latest in a series of high-profile kidnappings in the state. Barely two months ago, gunmen abducted the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Culture, Barrister Yusuf Musa, from his residence in Ungwan Nungu, also in Lafia.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, were unsuccessful at press time.
