Rivers Assembly Demands Immediate Submission of Commissioner Nominees, Appropriation Bill
The Rivers State House of Assembly has urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara to promptly submit the list of commissioner-nominees for screening and confirmation.
Speaking during the first plenary session following the six-month emergency rule, the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, emphasized that the Assembly expects the Governor to immediately commence preparations for an Appropriation Law to cover the remainder of the fiscal year.
The resolutions, adopted on Thursday, reflect the lawmakers’ determination to ensure that governance in the state returns to full legislative oversight after a prolonged period of executive-led emergency rule.
Amaewhule also noted that the timely presentation of the commissioner nominees and budget proposal is critical for maintaining continuity in government operations and meeting developmental obligations to the people of Rivers State.
