Anambra Govt Approves ₦43.7bn for Roads, Schools, and Key Infrastructure Projects

The Anambra State Government has approved contracts totaling about ₦43.7 billion for roads, power, schools, and other essential infrastructure projects, aimed at improving the living standards of residents across the state.

The state Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, disclosed that these decisions were made during the 19th meeting of the Anambra State Executive Council, held at the “Light House” in Awka on Monday.

Mefor emphasized that no new projects will be initiated solely for the election season. “The state government will continue to award projects based on strategic and economic importance, and on areas with the highest needs. We are not starting any new projects just because of elections,” he stated.

The approved projects include the dualisation of the Ekwulobia-Ufuma Road, with a bridge, awarded to Lebtech Construction Ltd for ₦37.95 billion. The construction of Adili/Park Road, with a spur to the Building Materials Market in Nnewi, was awarded to Ferrotex Construction Company for ₦1.40 billion.

Other notable contracts include:

School road construction with interlocking pavement stones at Iyiowa Odekpe to Roadways Nig Ltd for ₦2.23 billion.

External works of the VIP Lounge at Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, to Gill Associates Ltd for ₦172 million, and furniture supply for the same lounge to Gold Coast Sheltera Ltd for ₦157.7 million.

Rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of the Anambra State Civil Service Commission premises, Awka, for ₦147 million.

Traffic management works, including stop lines and pedestrian crossings at traffic light junctions statewide, awarded to Navigator Sign Ltd for ₦124.9 million.

Construction of playgrounds, volleyball and tennis courts, and related facilities at Ekwulobia Stadium Complex, Aguata LGA, to M.O. & C Int’l Ltd for ₦927 million.

Supply and installation of medical equipment at General Hospital, Enugwu-Otu Aguleri, to Minek Multi-Care Nig Ltd for ₦346.6 million.

Construction of two six-classroom suspended floor blocks at Awada Secondary School, Obosi, awarded to Conifer Kunstruction (Nig) Ltd for ₦174.35 million.

According to Mefor, these projects are expected to enhance infrastructure, attract investments, and improve the quality of life for Anambra residents.
