AbdulRazaq Donates Buses to Boost Education for Special Needs and Girls’ Schools
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has strengthened his commitment to education by donating two brand-new 32-seater Toyota Coaster buses to the School for Special Needs, Ilorin, and Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin.
The School for Special Needs, the state’s only public secondary school dedicated to children with special educational needs, received one of the buses, while the flagship girls-only Queen Elizabeth School received the other.
The surprise donations, made during separate visits on Tuesday, were met with excitement and applause from students, teachers, and school management.
Governor AbdulRazaq said the buses would enhance student mobility and improve learning outcomes. “We have to keep our eyes on the ball. The challenges these schools face require focused attention for the sake of these children. Our Ministry of Education must continue to prioritize their needs. We have about 500 students here with various special needs, and our government is committed to supporting them,” he told reporters at the School for Special Needs in Oyun, Ilorin.
Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, added that the donations were part of the administration’s sustained support for education. “Governor AbdulRazaq has always prioritized education, particularly for the underserved. These buses are meant to improve mobility for students and support learning outcomes, reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to providing necessary facilities for schools across the state,” he said.
At Queen Elizabeth School, the Governor pledged to address other pending issues, including perimeter fencing and electricity supply, commending the founders’ vision.
Principals of the two schools, Alhaji Abdulganiyi Olododo and Alhaja Rashidat Oluwakemi Abdul, praised the Governor’s gesture. Olododo described the bus as a “memorable gift,” while Alhaja Abdul said it would resolve the school’s transport challenges.
Dr Funke Opadokun, President of the Old Students Association of Queen Elizabeth School, lauded the Governor’s achievements in education and infrastructure. She said, “For this and many others, I have been praying that you will succeed by the special grace of God. We are so proud of what you are doing.”
