Ogun ADC chair warns against false claims on Mark, Aregbesola’s leadership

The Ogun State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Otunba Olufemi Soluade, has cautioned party members and political actors against spreading falsehood aimed at destabilising the party.

The warning followed the recent recognition of Senator David Mark and former Interior Minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement on Friday, Soluade said INEC’s update, released on September 10, had settled all questions of legitimacy within the ADC leadership. He described contrary claims as “misleading, harmful and capable of weakening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

He urged members to respect the party’s constitution and to pursue grievances through laid-down procedures rather than resorting to propaganda.

“No member should weaken our unity through falsehood. Disorganisation only benefits rival parties,” he said.

The Ogun ADC chair also warned that disputes at the national level could trickle down to the states if not managed properly, stressing the need for discipline and collective focus.

On the ongoing court matter, Soluade dismissed reports that Mark and Aregbesola had been restrained from acting as leaders, explaining that the Federal High Court in Abuja only adjourned the case to September 15 after refusing an ex-parte application.

“The court never granted any injunction against Senator Mark and Ogbeni Aregbesola. Those sponsoring these lies are simply frustrated individuals seeking relevance,” he added.

He appealed to party members to rally behind the recognised leadership and urged the media to verify reports before publication, saying: “Fake news is the last resort of desperate mischief makers. Nigerians deserve truth, not deception.”
