Kwara Govt Acquires 30 Transformers to Spur Economic Growth

Ilorin, Kwara State – The Kwara State Government has procured 30 new electricity transformers as part of efforts to enhance power supply, improve social amenities, and drive economic development across the state.

The Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Kola AbdulAzeez AbdulGaniy, disclosed this on Monday at the Ministry of Energy’s premises while receiving the second batch of transformers.

Engr. AbdulGaniy emphasized that access to electricity is crucial for boosting security, fostering economic activities, and improving the quality of life in communities. He assured that the state government would continue to prioritize the welfare of all citizens.

He revealed that the first batch of 16 transformers was received on August 15, 2025, while the remaining 14 units arrived early Monday morning. The Commissioner reiterated that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq remains committed to ensuring the welfare and security of the people of Kwara State.

“The administration believes that reliable power supply is central to attracting investments, creating jobs, and enhancing social services,” Engr. AbdulGaniy said.

The Ministry of Energy, through this initiative, aims to strengthen electricity distribution networks, particularly in underserved communities, in a bid to stimulate economic growth and development.

Rukayat Abdulhameed, Press Secretary of the Ministry, confirmed the delivery of the transformers and noted that the government plans to install them promptly to reach beneficiaries across the state.
