El-Rufai Drags Kaduna Police to PSC over Alleged Misconduct
Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has escalated his dispute with the state police command by petitioning the Police Service Commission (PSC) over what he described as “unprofessional conduct, abuse of office, and serial violations” of the Police Act by some officers.
El-Rufai accused the Kaduna Commissioner of Police and other officers of acting “unbecoming of their calling” since assuming office on December 30, 2024. The ex-governor, who recently ignored a police invitation for questioning, said he turned to the PSC after an earlier complaint to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, failed to halt the “egregiously unlawful” actions.
Sources said the alleged misconduct is linked to police actions in recent months that targeted some of El-Rufai’s political associates. The Kaduna State Police Command has yet to respond to the petition.
Earlier, the police had summoned El-Rufai and six top members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over alleged conspiracy, incitement, and public disturbance, directing them to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department on September 8, 2025.
