YOWICAN Hits Tinubu’s Aide Over Christian Genocide Claims

The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s aide, Daniel Bwala, over his dismissal of claims of Christian genocide in Nigeria.

Speaking at YOWICAN’s convention in Jalingo, Taraba State, at the weekend, National Secretary Bako Adashu Elijah described it as “unfortunate” that Bwala and his family remain unaffected by the attacks.

Bwala has consistently insisted that reports of Christian killings in Nigeria are misleading. However, Elijah said the atrocities, particularly in the North-east, are real and ongoing.

“Our position remains unchanged: there is an ongoing genocide in parts of Nigeria,” Elijah said. “Any attempt to downplay or distort this truth is a product of media misrepresentation.”

He further referenced U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent remarks on the killings, noting that the international spotlight underscores the urgency of the matter.

Elijah also renewed YOWICAN’s call for the replacement of Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, citing the need for “effective, responsive, and competent leadership” to tackle insecurity.

“Our appeal to Mr. President is clear: replace the National Security Adviser,” he added.
