Adeleke Urges Respect for People’s Mandate, Congratulates Soludo on Victory

On Monday, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State felicitated with Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State following his decisive victory in the recent governorship election, stressing that the will of the people, as expressed through the ballot, must always be upheld.
In a statement, Adeleke hailed Soludo’s re-election as a testament to his performance over the past four years and the trust the people of Anambra place in his leadership. He described the outcome as a demonstration that free and fair elections are achievable when electoral processes are properly managed. He also noted that every stage in the electoral life of a nation is about history making and that leaders are making history at every point, urging the political class to recommit to electoral transparency and accountability as a mark of respect for the constitution and the people.
“The bedrock of a sustainable democracy is free and fair elections where the choices of voters are respected. Power flows from the people, and they reserve the right to pick their leaders,” Adeleke said. He warned against any form of electoral malpractice, including intimidation, vote rigging, and violence, emphasizing that such acts undermine democracy.
The Osun governor also commended the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under Prof. Amupitan, urging further reforms to strengthen the credibility of elections in the country.
The statement was signed by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Spokesperson to the Governor.
