The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and Aviation Security in the ongoing campaign against economic and financial crimes.

Olukoyede, who was represented by the Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC Kano Directorate, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE I) Friday Ebelo, stated this during a courtesy visit to the Customs Area Controller, Kano/Jigawa Command, Dalhatu Abubakar, in Kano.

The EFCC boss described the NCS as a critical stakeholder in Nigeria’s anti-corruption drive, stressing that collective efforts among security and regulatory agencies remain the key to defeating graft.

> “We are here to plant our footprints on the anti-corruption path. This is not just about enforcement, but about building a legacy that will inspire the next generation to embrace integrity and reject corruption,” Olukoyede said.

He commended the existing synergy between the EFCC and Customs, noting that their joint operations have resulted in the recovery of billions of naira for the Federal Government. He urged the NCS to maintain open lines of communication and continue to partner with the EFCC to sustain the gains achieved.

Responding, Abubakar lauded the productive partnership between both agencies, which he said has not only yielded tangible results but also boosted public confidence in Nigeria’s anti-graft efforts.

He cited recent sensitisation programmes jointly organised by the EFCC and NCS as highly effective in promoting compliance and transparency among stakeholders. Abubakar also applauded Nigeria’s recent removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, attributing the success to improved collaboration among key agencies like the EFCC and NCS.

In a related development, Olukoyede, through his representative, also paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy General Manager of Aviation Security at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Aminu Sani Daura, where he sought closer cooperation to tackle illegal cash movements and financial crimes.

Daura assured the EFCC of the agency’s full support and suggested the permanent stationing of EFCC operatives at the airport to enhance surveillance and operational efficiency.
