The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, on Tuesday received the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff and the service chiefs during their first official visit to the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja.

A statement issued by the Minister’s Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mati Ali, said the team was led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede. Other members of the delegation were the Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen. Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S. K. Aneke.

The visit, according to the statement, signalled the beginning of a collaborative working relationship aimed at strengthening command synergy across the Armed Forces.

It quoted the Minister as saying the renewed defence leadership would prioritise trust, coordination and a common strategic direction in the protection of Nigeria’s territorial integrity under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The statement added that the engagement also marks the first step in aligning the military hierarchy behind a unified doctrine for decisive action in the nation’s security operations.
