Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga Dies at 80 in Indian Hospital

Former Kenyan Prime Minister and veteran opposition leader, Raila Odinga, has died at the age of 80 while undergoing medical treatment in India, his family confirmed on Wednesday.
Odinga reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest during a morning walk in Kochi, India, and was rushed to Devamatha Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Born on January 7, 1945, in Maseno, Kisumu County, Odinga was the son of Kenya’s first Vice President, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, and was widely regarded as one of the country’s most influential political figures over the past five decades.
His death marks the end of a remarkable political journey that saw him contest for the presidency multiple times and play a pivotal role in Kenya’s democratic evolution.
