Alumnus Decries UNN’s Link to Nnaji Certificate Forgery Saga

An alumnus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and public affairs analyst, Chibuzor Okereke, has expressed regret over the association of the recent certificate forgery allegations against the resigned Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, with the prestigious university.

Okereke made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, following Nnaji’s resignation from the ministerial position amid allegations of certificate forgery.

The former minister has insisted that his resignation does not constitute an admission of guilt, stating that history would vindicate him.

Okereke, who once served as president of the UNN Students’ Union, described the development as “disturbing” and lamented that the minister served in office for two years before the allegations surfaced.

“This is very unfortunate. Despite rigorous screenings, Minister Nnaji served for two years before these issues came to light. It is even more regrettable that alumni of UNN are being linked to this controversy,” he said.

He added that the situation is particularly disheartening as it involves governance at the highest level, noting the negative reflection on the institution’s reputation.
