Adeleke Pays Tribute to Late Arise TV Anchor, Somtochukwu Maduagwu

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has expressed grief over the death of Arise Television news anchor and producer, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, describing her passing at 29 as a colossal loss.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Tuesday, Adeleke said he was “deeply shaken” by the news of Maduagwu’s sudden death, and extended condolences to her immediate family, as well as the management and staff of Arise News Channel.

Rasheed quoted the governor as saying, “I’m disheartened to learn about the unfortunate passing of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, an Arise TV news anchor and producer. While she was alive, Maduagwu won hearts with her professionalism and an unwavering commitment to truth in her reportages.”

Adeleke further noted that Maduagwu’s “creative and appealing style of newscasting will linger in memories for a very long time,” stressing that the media industry had lost one of its brightest young talents.

The governor, who prayed for the repose of her soul, urged her family, colleagues, and everyone affected by the tragedy to take solace in the impactful life she lived. “It is my sincere hope that her good works in the short time she spent here will not die with her,” he added.
