Omisore Pledges UNESCO Status for Olojo Festival if Elected Osun Governor
Senator Iyiola Omisore, a gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has vowed to secure UNESCO World Heritage recognition for the Olojo Festival if elected governor in the 2026 poll.
Omisore made the pledge on Saturday while addressing journalists at the 2025 edition of the festival, describing it as a key cultural heritage that unites the Yoruba people and draws international attention.
According to a statement from the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Omisore commended the Ooni of Ife for his dedication to preserving Yoruba traditions and promoting peace.
He assured that, like the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, the Olojo Festival would gain global recognition under his administration.
The festival, celebrated annually in Ile-Ife, is a major cultural event marking Yoruba history and identity.
