Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Vacation in France

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday evening returned to Abuja following a part of his annual holiday in France.

The presidential jet touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 6:45 pm, where he was received by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, his Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, and other senior officials.

Tinubu departed Nigeria on September 4, 2025, initially planning to split his vacation between France and the United Kingdom but eventually concluded it in France. During his stay in Paris, he held a private luncheon with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. Both leaders discussed bilateral relations, reviewed strategic areas of cooperation, and pledged to deepen ties for shared prosperity and global stability.

This marks Tinubu’s seventh visit to Paris since assuming office in May 2023 and his first since attending the BRICS Summit in Brazil in July and the TICAD9 conference in Japan in August.

In the first nine months of 2025, the President undertook 15 international trips across 11 countries, including attending high-level summits, bilateral engagements, presidential inaugurations, and official working vacations.

His diplomatic engagements began with a visit to Accra, Ghana, on January 6 to attend the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama. He also attended the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit in the UAE, the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit in Tanzania, and the 37th African Union Summit in Ethiopia.

Tinubu’s itinerary further included working visits to France and the United Kingdom, the historic inauguration of Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City, a landmark state visit to Saint Lucia, the 17th BRICS Summit in Brazil, and the Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Japan.

Earlier this month, the President again visited France and the United Kingdom as part of his working vacation, marking his third trip to Paris and second to London this year.
