Adeleke Reaffirms Support for Accord Candidates in 2027 Legislative Elections
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his support for Accord candidates in the 2027 legislative elections, despite forming a coalition with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
Adeleke said the alliance was strictly for Tinubu’s second-term bid in the January 2027 presidential election and would not extend to contests for the Senate, House of Representatives and Osun State House of Assembly.
The governor stated this in a post on his X account on Friday, following the inauguration of the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s re-election.
“My support for all Accord candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly remains unshaken,” he said.
Adeleke explained that the coalition involving Accord, APC and PDP was formed solely to secure victory for Tinubu in the presidential election.
He added that the alliance was committed to delivering more than the 1.5 million votes previously promised to the President in Osun State.
“Our rainbow coalition of Accord, APC and PDP is united solely for President Tinubu’s re-election in the January 2027 presidential election. This partnership does not extend to the legislative elections,” the governor said.
On the lingering local government crisis in Osun State, Adeleke said negotiations were at an advanced stage, adding that he had received assurances from the Federal Government that positive developments would follow.
“On the Osun local government crisis, negotiations are at an advanced stage. I have received the assurance of the Federal Government, and there will be positive developments soon,” he said.
The governor also called on political stakeholders to set aside their differences and work together, noting that the country was at a critical moment requiring unity.
“These are critical times that demand unity beyond political differences. From the pain of the past, we must unite for the prosperity of the future,” Adeleke added.
