Shettima Departs Abuja for Ethiopia on Nutrition Leadership Exchange
Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to lead a government-to-government peer exchange focused on accelerating nutrition delivery in Nigeria.
Shettima was invited by Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Temesgen Tiruneh, who is leading the country’s multi-sectoral approach to nutrition.
This was disclosed by the Vice President’s media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to the statement, Shettima will lead the Nigerian delegation at the inaugural Nigeria-Ethiopia Nutrition Leadership Exchange Visit, which is aimed at sharing experiences on building a federal, state and local framework for improved nutrition delivery.
The Nigerian delegation is expected to exchange experiences with Ethiopian officials on how government-led programmes can strengthen nutrition delivery and will visit key establishments involved in the country’s nutrition initiatives.
The Vice President is also expected to visit a wheat farm and banana plantation in Oromia, the Bounty of the Basket Training Centre and households in Mojo, as well as Jabdu Motors in Bishoftu.
Among those accompanying Shettima are Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal; Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi; and Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu.
The Vice President is expected to return to Abuja after the engagements in Ethiopia.
Shettima had returned to Nigeria on September 28, 2026, after representing President Bola Tinubu at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
He departed Abuja on September 20 after Tinubu directed him to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the annual global gathering.
