Iwobi named Man of the Match in Nigeria’s win over Madagascar
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has been named Man of the Match following Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Madagascar in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying opener in Uyo on Friday night.
Nigeria came from a goal down to secure all three points in the Matchday 1 encounter.
Iwobi provided the assist for debutant George Ilenikhena’s equalising goal in the 45th minute.
The Fulham midfielder played the full 90 minutes and combined effectively with captain Wilfred Ndidi in the middle of the pitch.
The appearance was Iwobi’s 101st for the three-time African champions.
The Super Eagles will face Guinea-Bissau in their next qualifying fixture on Tuesday.
