Seasoned journalist and publisher of Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, has died.

Oladipo reportedly died after suddenly falling ill at his office on Tuesday.

The President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), Danlami Nmodu, confirmed his death on Tuesday night in a message posted on the guild’s WhatsApp platform.

“It has just been confirmed that Emeritus President, Mr Dotun Oladipo, died today.

“May his soul rest in peace. Amen,” Nmodu wrote.

The General Secretary of the Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society (IMPCMS), Nkanu Egbe, also announced Oladipo’s death on Wednesday morning, describing it as “devastating.”

Nkanu said the organisation’s Executive Committee would communicate further details regarding funeral arrangements, condolence visits and interim leadership matters.

Oladipo was a guest analyst on the popular TVC programme, Journalist Hangout.

Until his death, he was the President of IMPCMS and Emeritus President of GOCOP.

Before founding Eagle Online, Oladipo worked with the Nigerian Tribune and Nigerian Compass. He was also a former Politics Editor at PUNCH Newspapers.
