The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the August 15 Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to revitalise Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state to improve access to quality healthcare, particularly in rural communities, if elected.

Oyebamiji made the pledge as more than 1,500 residents of Ode-Omu and neighbouring communities in Ayedaade Local Government Area benefited from a free medical outreach organised in his honour by Engr. Kazeem Opejin.

The outreach provided free blood pressure and blood sugar checks, weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments, medical consultations, medications, health education and counselling, as well as eye care services. More than 1,000 pairs of eyeglasses and eye drops were distributed to beneficiaries.

Represented by his wife, Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji, the APC candidate said strengthening primary healthcare would be a priority of his administration.

She said the medical outreach underscored Oyebamiji’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery across Osun State.

“Looking at the present condition of the health sector in Osun State, reaching out to people through healthcare interventions is the right thing to do. We have organised medical outreaches across the state, and this is the second in this federal constituency.

“You can see that AMBO’s team is made up of people who understand the needs of Osun residents. A vote for the APC is a vote for improved healthcare, better infrastructure, quality education and a more prosperous state,” she said.

Dr. Oyebamiji urged residents, particularly women, to support the APC candidate in the forthcoming governorship election, assuring them that their welfare would receive priority under his administration.

Earlier, the organiser of the outreach, Engr. Kazeem Opejin, said the initiative was prompted by concerns over the state of healthcare delivery and the need to provide immediate medical support to rural communities.

He expressed confidence that an Oyebamiji administration would strengthen healthcare services across the state.

“When AMBO is elected governor, he will make healthcare more effective and accessible than what we are witnessing today. His wife is a medical doctor, and both of them are passionate about healthcare.

“They have supported many health-related initiatives, and this outreach is another way of assisting the people of Ode-Omu and surrounding rural communities,” Opejin said.
