Tinubu Presents APC Vice-Presidential Nomination Certificate to Shettima
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday presented Vice President Kashim Shettima with the official certificate confirming his nomination as the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The certificate was presented during a brief ceremony held at the President’s office in the State House, Abuja.
The event comes days after the APC submitted the nomination forms of Tinubu and Shettima to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the deadline for presidential and National Assembly candidates.
The nomination forms were presented to APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on July 10 by the President’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, Ibrahim Masari.
Although INEC initially fixed July 11, 2026, as the deadline for political parties to submit nomination forms for presidential, vice-presidential, Senate and House of Representatives candidates, the electoral body later extended the deadline to July 14.
The APC subsequently submitted the names of Tinubu and Shettima as its presidential ticket for the 2027 election.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, expressed confidence that the APC would retain power in the forthcoming general election.
Tinubu secured the APC presidential ticket at the party’s May 23 primary after polling 10,999,162 votes to defeat his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, who received 16,503 votes.
The 2027 presidential election is scheduled for January 16 under the revised timetable issued in line with the Electoral Act 2026.
