The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released activists Randy Peter and Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, after they honoured an invitation by the anti-graft agency in Abuja.

The duo were released shortly after midnight on Wednesday following about 11 hours of questioning and were directed to return to the commission’s headquarters on Thursday.

Their colleague, Justice Crack, who accompanied them to the EFCC office, confirmed the development in a post on X.

“My dear brother, @Peter4Nigeria, and my sister, @MamaPee__ were invited by the @officialEFCC. I personally accompanied them there on the afternoon of 15th July 2026, at about 1:00 p.m. It was a very long day,” he wrote.

“They were eventually released at around 12:00 a.m. and were asked to return the following day, 16th July 2026. For now, everything is fine.”

Earlier, concerns had grown over the activists’ whereabouts after Esther Umoh, who served as Peter Obi’s 2023 campaign photographer, disclosed on X that they had remained at the EFCC office several hours after honouring the invitation.

The prolonged stay sparked speculation on social media that the activists had been arrested.

However, Justice Crack later clarified that both had been released and were expected to return to the EFCC as requested.

The EFCC has not disclosed the reason for inviting the activists.
