APC Chieftain, Falz Clash Over Remi Tinubu’s Appeal To Artistes

A war of words has erupted between Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, and All Progressives Congress chieftain Ayekooto Akindele over comments made by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to top Nigerian artistes.

Falz criticised the First Lady after she urged successful Afrobeats stars to channel more of their wealth into supporting small businesses and charitable causes, saying it is the government’s responsibility to improve the welfare of citizens.

“Why asking individuals when this is actually your job to do? What do you mean by pressure on the government? Did anyone force you to take up the job?”, the rapper asked.

The rapper questioned why individuals were being asked to shoulder responsibilities he believes belong to the government, reminding the administration that it willingly sought public office.

“From day one that you set out your political journey, this is the day you have been waiting for so how can you come and say pressure is much on you?”

Reacting, APC chieftain Ayekooto Akindele dismissed Falz’s comments, claiming the First Lady’s appeal was directed at artistes such as Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy, and not the rapper.

Ayekooto further alleged that Falz also needed help due to what he described as a declining music career, urging him to stop making what he called “jargons.”

“Falz, stop talking jargons. The First Lady didn’t mention your name, she knows you yourself need help due to career capsizing. She only mentioned Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy.”
