Police Promise Action Against Suspected Criminals Allegedly Hiding in Osun Govt House
The Osun State Police Command says it will take action against suspected criminals allegedly hiding within the State Government House after following due procedures required for access.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this while addressing journalists, explaining that the Government House enjoys certain protections that restrict unrestricted police entry.
“The Government House has its own immunity, and as the IGP has said, there are procedures we need to follow before accessing it.
“Otherwise, we could be accused of infringing on the governor’s privacy, which is a serious matter,” Ojelabi said.
His comments followed concerns raised by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, during a visit to Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15 governorship election in the state.
During the visit, Adeleke had urged the police to ensure that anyone found involved in criminal activities is brought to justice.
Ojelabi, however, stressed that the command would operate within the limits of the law while carrying out its duties, adding that necessary steps would be taken once the required procedures are completed.
