Osun APC Dares Police to Raid Government House, Says IGP’s Warning Vindicates Allegations Against Adeleke
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State on Monday alleged that the directive reportedly issued by the Inspector-General of Police to the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, to deal with alleged criminal elements in the Government House validates its long-standing accusations against Governor Ademola Adeleke.
In a statement signed by the Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the opposition party urged security agencies to extend any investigation beyond the Government House to other locations it claimed could be harbouring suspected hoodlums, insisting that such action would ensure a thorough investigation.
The party claimed that the Inspector-General of Police, during his recent visit to Osun, confronted Governor Adeleke over allegations that the Government House was being used as a hideout for suspected political thugs seeking to evade arrest and prosecution.
According to the APC, any police operation targeted solely at the Government House would be inadequate unless it also covered other locations in Ede which it alleged might be used to shield suspects from law enforcement.
The opposition party further accused the Adeleke administration of politicising security matters, alleging that the Government House had been turned into a refuge for political hoodlums, an allegation the state government has consistently denied.
The APC also faulted comments reportedly made by the Osun State Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, against the Inspector-General of Police, describing them as an afterthought and an attempt to downplay the issues raised during the police chief’s visit.
The party maintained that Osun was suffering from poor governance under the Adeleke administration, alleging that the state had witnessed policy inconsistencies and inadequate development.
Expressing confidence ahead of the August 15 governorship election, the APC said its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), would provide what it described as purposeful leadership and restore effective governance in the state.
The statement also appealed to APC members and residents of Osun to remain peaceful, expressing optimism that the forthcoming election would usher in a change of administration.
