APC dominates Ondo, Nasarawa, Kano, Kebbi by-elections as PDP retains Rivers Senate seat
The All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded major victories in Saturday’s by-elections, winning key senatorial, House of Representatives and state assembly seats in Ondo, Nasarawa, Kano and Kebbi States, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) retained the Rivers South-East Senatorial District seat.
Results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday showed the APC strengthening its position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ondo South Senatorial District
Winner: Prof. Dayo Faduyile (APC)
Votes: 68,474
Runner-up: Adeolu Akinwunmi (APM) – 1,411 votes
Rivers South-East Senatorial District
Winner: Olaka Nwogu (PDP)
Votes: 47,961
Runner-up: Osarosaka Ebenezer (APC) – 1,647 votes
Nasarawa North Senatorial District
Winner: Danladi Halilu Envulu-Anza (APC)
Votes: 45,362
Runner-up: Labaran Maku (LP) – 12,931 votes
Third: Emmanuel Ombugadu (PDP) – 11,331 votes
Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency, Kano
Winner: Rabiu Shuaibu (APC)
Votes: 35,356
Zuru State Constituency, Kebbi
Winner: Rabiu Garba Aiki (APC)
Votes: 4,871
Runner-up: Aliyu Galadima Muhammad (LP) – 168 votes
The Ondo and Rivers senatorial elections were conducted to fill vacancies created by the appointment of former Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and the death of Senator Barinada Mpigi, respectively.
The Kano and Kebbi by-elections followed the deaths of former House of Representatives member Muhammad Danjuma-Hassan and former Kebbi State House of Assembly Speaker Muhammad Usman Zuru.
While the APC secured four of the five contested seats, the PDP maintained control of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District.
