2027: Atiku Accuses Babachir of Ethnic Profiling, Defends Record
Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has criticised former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, accusing him of ethnic profiling and making unsubstantiated allegations in recent public comments.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu on Sunday, Atiku described it as irresponsible to associate an entire ethnic group with the actions of a few individuals, warning that such narratives could deepen divisions and undermine national unity.
The former Vice President also pointed to what he described as contradictions in Lawal’s public statements, noting that the former SGF had recently spoken of political support from governors while also alleging ethnic domination in national politics. Atiku maintained that leadership should be based on service and national interest rather than ethnic or religious considerations.
Defending his record, Atiku said he had consistently condemned insecurity across the country and supported victims of violence regardless of ethnicity or religion. He added that his contributions to education, entrepreneurship, and national development demonstrate his commitment to building a united and prosperous Nigeria.
