The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a power outage affecting the Presidential Villa, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Supreme Court and several parts of the Federal Capital Territory.

AEDC disclosed this in a notice issued on Saturday, attributing the disruption to a technical fault.

Areas affected include the State House, Supreme Court, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Lugbe, Asokoro, Central Area, and Garki Areas 2, 3, 7 and 8, among other locations in Abuja.

The outage also impacted several government institutions, embassies, residential districts and commercial centres.

Affected locations include the National Planning Commission, National Hospital, Treasury House, National Assembly Annex, Nigerian Judicial Council, Command Guest House, War College, Air Force Base, Aviation Village, River Park Estate and offices of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Customs, Correctional Service and Civil Defence.

Foreign missions affected include the embassies of Pakistan, India, Egypt and Sudan, as well as the European Union office.

Commercial and residential areas impacted include Garki Market, Garki Village, Airport Road, Shoprite axis, Dunamis Church area, Aviation Village, Piwoye, Kapwa and other surrounding communities.

AEDC said technical teams from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) were working to restore electricity supply to affected locations.

“We regret the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding,” the company stated.
