Shettima arrives Akure for Fasoranti’s centenary, project commissioning
Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Monday arrived in Akure, Ondo State, to participate in the centenary celebration of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, and to inaugurate a major infrastructure project in the state.
The Vice-President’s aircraft landed at the Akure Airport at about 11:33 a.m.
Shettima was received by Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun. Also on ground were Ondo State Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami, and officials of the Niger Delta Development Commission, including Mr. Ifedayo Abegunde.
Security presence was visibly heightened across Akure, with personnel of the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and Amotekun Corps deployed along major routes, particularly around Pa Fasoranti’s residence.
The Vice-President is expected to inaugurate the Onyearugbulem Flyover before proceeding to the elder statesman’s residence for the centenary celebration.
The flyover project was originally flagged off in July 2023 by the late former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, as part of efforts to improve traffic flow within Akure metropolis.
