The Osun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has faulted a media report linking one Adeniran Ajala to the camp of loyalists of former governor, Rauf Aregbesola, who reportedly returned to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Speaking on behalf of the party, Osun ADC Publicity Secretary-elect, Abosede Busayo Oluwaseun, described the report as misleading, insisting that Ajala was never a member of the Omoluabi Progressives or the ADC family.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the party explained that Ajala was only a ward-level member of the APC in Odo-Otin Local Government before leaving the party shortly after the 2022 Osun governorship election to join the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The ADC stated that since his exit from the APC in 2022, Ajala had no affiliation whatsoever with the Omoluabi Progressives or the ADC, contrary to claims in the publication.

The party further urged journalists and media organisations to uphold professionalism by verifying facts before going to press, warning against sensational reports capable of misleading members of the public.

According to the statement, “We therefore urge media practitioners and journalists to desist from sensationalism, ensure proper fact-checking, and remain professional in their reportage to avoid misleading the public.”
