Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has criticised Arsenal’s post-match celebrations following their UEFA Champions League semi-final victory over Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal secured a 2–1 aggregate win to book a place in the final, with Bukayo Saka’s late first-half strike in the second leg at the Emirates Stadium proving decisive. The first leg in Spain had ended 1–1.

The final whistle sparked extended celebrations among Arsenal players and fans, with the team applauding supporters in a jubilant atmosphere.

However, Rooney, a Champions League winner with Manchester United in 2008, suggested the reaction was premature.

“They haven’t won it yet,” he told Prime Video. “I think the celebrations are a bit too much. Celebrate when you win… but they’ve done well to get there.”

Arsenal will face either Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain in the final, with the second semi-final to be decided on Wednesday.
