APC Campaign Council Seeks Owa-Obokun’s Blessings for Oyebamiji, Blames Osun Govt for Underdevelopment

The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) 2026 Governorship Campaign Council on Monday visited the palace of the Owa-Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup (Ajimoko III), seeking royal blessings ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

The statement, made available to Patriotic Insights News, was signed by Omolebi-Sunday Segun Tunde for the Director-General of the APC 2026 Governorship Campaign Council.

The delegation, led by its Director-General, Hon. Oluwole Oke, said the visit was part of ongoing consultations with key stakeholders in the state to strengthen support for the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

Oke, who addressed the monarch, said the council deemed it necessary to seek the support and prayers of traditional rulers, describing them as custodians of peace, unity and development.

ⁿHe commended the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing infrastructural interventions in Osun, particularly the Ibadan–Ilesa road project, which he said would boost economic activities in Ijesaland.

The APC chieftain, however, took a swipe at the state government, alleging mismanagement of resources and neglect of critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture and rural infrastructure.

He also raised concerns over the state of development in parts of Ijesaland, calling for urgent intervention to address what he described as widening infrastructural gaps.

In their separate remarks, High Chief Disu Oyedele, the Salotun of Ilesa, and Oba Festus Awogboro, the Ogboni of Ibokun, urged the political class to prioritise the development of Ijesaland and strengthen traditional institutions.

Responding, Oba Haastrup cautioned politicians against violence and divisive rhetoric, urging them to embrace peaceful and issue-based campaigns. He prayed for the delegation and wished them success in their political engagements.

The APC campaign council reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive governance and peaceful political participation ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Members of the delegation included Hon. Wole Oke, Aare Adereti Kayode Benjamin, Prince Thomas Ogungbangbe, Sen. Mudashir Hussain, Prof. Siji Olamiju, Hon. Remi Omowaiye, among others.
