Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday highlighted what he described as his administration’s pro-labour policies, while taking a swipe at the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) over its record on workers’ welfare in the state.

Speaking through his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said: “This administration has fulfilled critical promises to Osun workers, including improved conditions of service, regular promotions, payment of outstanding allowances, consistent salary payments, cash backing for promoted staff, access to health insurance, and settlement of backlog of half salaries and pensions among others.”

Adeleke accused the APC of years of neglect of workers and pensioners, describing its record as “anti-labour” and “inhuman,” insisting that Osun workers would not wish a return to what he termed the past administration’s harsh policies.

He added that despite financial constraints, his government had maintained what he called a balanced approach to resource allocation, while laying groundwork for recruitment in key sectors based on availability of funds.

According to him, his administration remains committed to prioritising the welfare of workers and residents of Osun State, stressing that public servants were already feeling the impact of ongoing reforms.

The statement further noted that labour unions and workers across the state had continued to express support for the administration’s policies, which it linked to what it described as broad-based acceptance ahead of future political engagements.
