Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s leadership under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the country is in capable hands and should support his re-election to sustain ongoing reforms.

Fubara made the remarks on Thursday at the meeting of the Southern Traditional Rulers Council held in Port Harcourt, where monarchs from the 17 southern states gathered to discuss unity, security, and economic development.

He said the current administration has recorded progress in areas such as economic recovery and infrastructure delivery, pointing to projects like the coastal road initiative as examples of ongoing development efforts.

The governor stressed the need for continuity in governance, adding that “it is not ideal to change the goalposts in the middle of the game,” while urging stakeholders in the southern region to work together for national progress.

The meeting was chaired by the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who said the forum was aimed at strengthening unity and addressing shared challenges such as security and economic growth across the region.

Prominent traditional rulers from across the South-West, South-South, and South-East also attended the session, which focused on fostering cooperation between traditional institutions and government in addressing national issues.
