Gunmen abduct five in Kwara community amid security concerns

Tension has gripped Odo-Ore community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State after suspected gunmen abducted at least five residents during a late-night attack.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants, numbering about ten, stormed the community, firing sporadically before carrying out the abduction.

Among those taken was a prominent politician and school proprietor, Alhaji Yusuf Yunusa, who was reportedly picked up from his residence.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the attackers went straight to Yunusa’s home, suggesting possible insider involvement.

“He was preparing to sleep around 11 p.m. when they forced their way through his gate, broke the main door, and took him away,” the source said.

The gunmen were also said to have abducted four other residents while leaving the community.

Residents raised concerns over the absence of a police station or security presence in the area, leaving the community vulnerable during the attack.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command had yet to officially respond to the incident.
